FISTA Chain Saw Safety Workshop
As part of WOHVA's overall support of motorized recreation in the Badger State
and specifically our support for a state Motorized Recreation Area (MRA),
WOHVA continues to educate and whenever possible certify capable and well
trained volunteers. As we move closer to realizing our goal of a Motorized
Recreation Area (MRA), WOHVA wants to take the next step in offering the
WOHVA has once again arranged to host a FISTA Chain Saw Safety Workshop.
The workshop will be held in conjunction with our 8th Annual OHV Enthusiasts
Workshops on Thursday, April 12th. If you missed out last, this is full day safety
course which includes a half-day of classroom instruction, lunch and a half-day of
hands-on, outdoor instruction.
Located in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Forest Industry Safety and Training Alliance,
Inc. (FISTA) is a nationally recognized, non-profit safety training and education
organization for the forest industry. FISTA is a 501(c) (3) charitable

industries to; 1) Decrease the number and severity of logging-related accidents;
2) Improve productivity and professionalism; and 3) Encourage environmentally
FISTA is most well known for its hands-on Chain Saw Safety Training Program,
which has been conducted in hundreds of locations across the country. Chain
Saw Safety Training is conducted for a wide variety of groups such as: loggers,
foresters, landowners, highway departments, correctional facilities, conservation
districts, municipalities, recreational volunteer groups and many more.
FISTA provides Logger Training and Education and maintains a database of
trained loggers and foresters for the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®). All
SFI® training is conducted in accordance with the annual SFI® Training
Standard. SFI® Training in Wisconsin includes: Best Management Practices for
Water Quality (BMPs) and annual Continuing Education requirements.
