WOHVA Trail Guides just finished trail development for the 10th Annual Great Northern Trail Ride.  We have something for everyone.  Whether a novice driver or if this is your first time off road to the more experienced trail rider, you won’t be disappointed!

Description on the facilities.  Camping on site is included in the admission.  The camping area is 40+ acres of primitive camping consisting rolling hills with wooded tree lines and shade trees scattered throughout.  There is no power available but generators are welcome.  We can accommodate everything from tents to full size motor coaches.  There is a rustic shower facility for a hot shower at the end of the day.  There is also hotels nearby that are OHV friendly  http://www.chetek.com/motels.htm As always we will have an RTI Ramp and Air Compressors available.

Saturday evening festivities start with an old fashioned pig roast, followed by a raffle drawing with tons of prizes from our generous sponsors Del City, Drive Train Specialists, Tom Woods, Warn and WOHVA supporting club Roadside Four Wheelers.  We will also have a 50/50 raffle for a cash payout.  After the drawing there will be a HUGE camp fire!!!!

Sunday join WOHVA Trail Guides for an open trail riding day to explore the areas you passed on Saturday or a chance to retry that obstacle you said “if only “ at the camp fire Saturday night.

PRE-REGISTARTION ENDS AUG 6TH 2017!

Welcome to the New WOHVA website.  For those that visit us regularly, you no doubt have noticed the change.  If you are seeing this for the first time Welcome.

As mentioned this is a new site for WOHVA.  We are still working through the bugs and we want to hear from you the users.  If you are just curious on a feature, having issues with a particular function or suggestions to make it better, email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  Sometimes or should I say usually, hours and hours of background work just doesn't show all the little things that can pop up with different browsers, operating systems and social media app's.

We will be continuing to update the site over the next few months as we finish our refined marketing strategy.

This is also a good opportunity to remind everyone of WOHVA's Great Northern Trail Ride commonly referred to as the GNTR.  This year for the 10th Anniversary we are holding it at a new venue, Apple Valley Farms, New Auburn, WI (just north of Eau Claire, WI.).  WOHVA has exclusive access to this Off-Highway trail riding area for this event.

We will have guided rides on Saturday, followed by a old fashioned pig roast & bonfire big enough for the space shuttle to see!  Not to worry there will be plenty of prizes donated by our generous sponsors DelCity, Tom Woods, Drive Train Specialists & Toys for trucks.  Sunday the park is open only to our participants to explore on your own.  You can go hit your favorite spots, try the challenge you passed on Saturday or hit the pasture trail and pet the cows, yes pet cows!

Be sure to register soon.  We are filling up quickly.  Lodging outside of rough camping on site is limited.  There is a link to local amenities on the itinerary.

The itinerary and registration can be found on the Home page and a registration button is in the upper right corner.

Hope to see you there

Recently WOHVA has been participating with a newly created Jeep enthusiast group in the Wrangler Riders. The Wrangler Riders is currently based in Sheboygan WI with the vision to go global utilizing local chapters across the US.

Wrangler Riders is an association formed by Ryan Harden. Ryan has a diverse background in OHV recreation with ATV, UTV, OHM and now 4WD’s. Ryan brings a wealth of knowledge in social media outreach, promotional experience and a passion to expand our sport we’ve not seen for some time.

A couple weeks back the Wrangler Riders had their first “Meet & Greet” held at Randel’s Custard in Sheboygan. From there we enjoyed a beautiful ride through the Elkhart lake area in route to the Northern Kettle Moraine where we hit some off pavement roads through the woods. WOHVA was proud to be part of this event.

Thanks to Ryan, the Wrangler Riders has secured some trail riding opportunities in the Manitowoc WI area. This summer there will be some trail building and general trail riding opportunities. Please check us out at www.wranglerriders.com or on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/wranglerriders/

WOHVA’s Executive Director recently attended a 4 day training program designed to develop the skills and knowledge needed to lead volunteers in building and maintaining sustainable trails for recreational use.

This training was provided by Trail Design Specialists based out of Georgia in partnership with the WI DNR. Milwaukee County Parks sponsored the training event which took place at Whitnall Park in Franklin, WI

The first 3 days consisted of 60% classroom instruction including a test on that day’s material, followed by a field training exercise. Below are bullet points of each days training and activities.

Day 1 Trail design techniques & mock trail layout.

Day 2 Trail construction techniques & begin trail development

Day 3 Trail Maintenance techniques & repair a section of trail

Day 4 Safety and Leadership techniques & field work.

Reflecting back on this, it was a rewarding experience sharing volunteer hours with other user groups and realizing we all CAN get along!

For a more in depth breakdown of each day’s activities see the Off Camber article in the Summer edition of Badger Tracks, soon to be released.
